For this weeks DS106 assignment, the task was to edit a childhood photo of yourself to include a more recent photo of you in a pose that makes it look like you were part of the original scene. I used a picture of my sister and I from 2005, posing in our matching GAP sweatshirts. I replaced my sisters face with a more recent picture of myself, to make it look like I was part of the original photo. My family and I got a good laugh out of this remixed photo!

Meme 3 – At Least it’s an Ethos, Refresh as Another Film
The task for this weeks DS106 Assignment was to take the line from the film The Big Lebowski “Say what you will about National Socialism, Dude, at least it’s an ethos” and change National Socialism to a different -ism. I chose to replace ‘National Socialism’ with ‘Activism’. Activism was a word I felt best suited today’s society regarding different things occurring. For example, at UNE,, students are presenting activism toward the schedule change. People always seem to have an opinion when it comes to people avoiding for themselves and taking a stance for something they believe in. So, I said through this assignment that, you can say what you want about activists, but at least they have an opinion. You can complain and pass judgment as much as you please, but at least activists are taking a stance on an issue, rather than sitting back and doing nothing.

GIF Animate Your Day Like Ben
Aroma Joe’s
I start almost everyday with a rush from the ever so famous, Aroma Joe’s! I stick with the same order every time I go… I’m too scared to change it up. My order is a single (24oz) rush with blue raspberry and watermelon flavor shots. This rush is the boost of energy and caffeine that allows me to jump start my day everyday!
Strength and Conditioning Room
After having my daily dose of Aroma Joe’s, I head off to work. I have a work study job here on campus. I work in the Strength and Conditioning room at the forum. During this time, I basically just make sure everyone is safe while working out and help anyone who may have questions. Most of the time no one needs assistance, so I spend time completing homework such as this DS106 assignment.
Biochemistry Lab
Around 2 o’clock, I head off to Biochemistry Lab. Lab’s are the worst, but my lab group makes the three hour class period feel like time flies by. Today we basically killed Zebrafish babies and placed them in a liquid buffer to determine its protein concentration when placed in light. Sad, but scientific, I guess!
Packing Up, and Heading off to Florida
I ended my day by closing up my very full suitcase, as I head off to Florida to being my SPRING BREAK! I am taking a 5 am flight out of Portland, where I will travel to the warm and sunny Tampa, Florida. I am so excited to just relax on the beach with friends for the entire week. School at this point in the semester is very draining, and it is time for a relaxing break. LET SPRING BREAK BEGIN!

Be Your Own Best Friend
For this assignment, we were to create a photo that suggested we were our “own best friend”. To do this, I had to take a panorama photo on my phone, except moving whenever I was out of frame in order to make it look like I was in the same photo multiple times. I went to my neighbors room in Soko, and had him capture the panorama above. I am seen three times, just doing random things throughout the entire main living space. First, I am playing with the Australian flag. Next, I am rolling out some aluminum foil in the kitchen. Last, I am hitting a pose on the couch and living room chair to finish out my photo.

Meme 2 – Bad Photo/Vintage/Helvetica
This weeks DS106 assignment was to choose a bad photo, apply a vintage filter, and attach a quote in a helvetica font. For this assignment, I used a blurry picture of my friend sliding down the stairs last Halloween. After editing the picture in VSCO by applying a vintage looking filter, I chose a quote I felt was fitting to the image. For obvious reasons, I chose the quote, “Spread Your Wings and Fly”, as he is soaring down the staircase rail with his arms spread open.

Animated GIF of Your Sassy Animal
This is one of my cats. His name is Zack. My cats are unusual in the sense that they are not like most cats. My cats like to run around all day, get their bellies scratched and always be up in everyones business. My cats are always sassy, so this animated GIF assignment was not a hard one for me. When I saw the word sassy, my mind associated that with the word swag. With that in mind, I chose this moment to GIF of my cat. He is wearing my younger brothers cross chain as he walks around the house. My cat thinks he runs the household and by wearing the chain necklace and walking around, in my opinion defines sass and swag for a pet.

Places of Peace
Above are all images that represent places of peace for me. Old Black Point (OBP) (picture in the top left corner and picture on the right in the second row) is a specific area in my home town of Niantic, Connecticut where you can catch the most perfect sunset! The second you enter OBP and walk the beach, memories from childhood through my high school years come flooding in. OBP gives you a sensory overload of happiness and peace. You can’t help but smile and feel relaxed as you roam the beach while watching the sun set over the Long Island sound with hometown friends.
Block Island (picture in top right corner) is a second place of peace for me. Since seventh grade, my closest friends and I would spend either a full day or long weekend in the Block. Escaping reality and jetting off the Block Island on the ferry is a key memory I’ve had for years. As I’ve gotten older, the memories and time spent on the island have just grown fonder. Block feels like a home away from home. The tradition of going to Block with my hometown friends is one that will carry on for the rest of our lives.
Boat rides on the Niantic River and Long Island Sound (bottom two pictures and picture on the left in the second row) is something I’ve done since birth. Spending the day on the boat relaxing with family on friends is the peak of my summers. Whether I’m laying on the bow trying to get a tan or traveling full speed as the wind and sea salt hits my face, when I’m on the boat, I am so content and at peace. Being in my hometown of Niantic, Connecticut will always bring me peace!

After contemplating what three individual/characters to use for the DS106 meme troll quotes assignment, I decided to use three influential figures that people may see on TV every day. Individual one is displayed as the graphic or image of my meme. If it isn’t obvious, the individual displayed is the man, the myth, the legend, Dr. Phil. For those of you who’ve never watched Dr. Phil, which I don’t know how that’s possible, he provides the most comprehensive forum on mental health issues in the history of television. Once I had decided on Dr Phil representing my meme image, I then need to decide who I would quote that would in some way would resemble something people could imagine Dr. Phil saying. My mind instantly went to another daytime host that provides positivity and help for the community. So I decided to use a quote from the one and only Oprah Winfrey. Oprah like Dr. Phil works to change the lives of others, so I used her quote that states, “where there is no struggle, there is no strength”. After identifying two out of the three individuals I would use, I then needed to decide who would be responsible and take credit for the quote. The obvious choice was yet another inspirational talk show host, Ellen DeGeneres.
